  • Experience: 5 Years Experience
A data scientist at Kenshos National Security Division is passionate about three things: data, international affairs, and Kenshō. The successful candidate will have extensive experience applying a range of machine learning models to a diverse set of data. You should enjoy moving beyond the theoretic confines of academia to applying your tradecraft in the real world and producing data driven products that will be used by senior decision makers throughout the Intelligence and Defense community. The ideal candidate is precise and detail oriented, fully aware that the devil is in the details when national security is on the line. Most importantly, a Kenshō data scientist is excited at the opportunity to work in a lean, tight-knit startup bringing transparency to some of the most important issues on the planet.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant technical field such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, or Engineering
  • 3+ years building computational models to make inferences from data (particularly time series data)
  • Strong experience working in small software development teams
  • Familiar with the Agile software development model
  • Product oriented
  • Familiar with Amazon Web Services Technology stack for developing software solutions
  • Extensive experience developing and debugging in python
  • Experience with filesystems, server architectures, and distributed systems
  • Capable of analyzing complex problems and generating a concise summary of analysis, and presenting recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision by first line management
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Security Clearance

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced degree in relevant technical field such as Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Computational Social Science, Engineering or similar domains
  • 5+ years experience building computational models to make inferences from data
  • Extensive GitHub portfolio in python
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
